Fauro is a 29 km long island near the border with Papua New Guinea. The island is the second largest in the Shortland group.
Fauro Island is surrounded by reefs and bordered with white sandy beaches. There are good dive sites on the southern coast. At Kavakava Bay there is a sunken Japanese ship which sometimes leaks oil. North Bay, on the northern end of the island, is a partially submerged extinct volcanic crater.
There are numerous small islets off the coast which are of volcanic origin.
John Seach has been providing unique tours to the Solomon Islands since 1989.
