Marovo Lagoon is the world's largest lagoon enclosed by islands. The lagoon partially surrounds an extinct volcano, Vangunu Island.
The eastern edge of the lagoon is bordered by barrier islands up to 60 m high. Only 20 if the islands are inhabited.
