Mono is the largest of the Treasury Islands, located 29 km SW of the Shortland Islands in the western Solomons. The island has a rim of coralline limestone which forms cliffs over 20 m high.
Inland there are siltstones which were formed in the Pliocene age which cover a basement of andesitic lavas.
Most of the inhabitants live in Famalai village on the southern side of the island. An airfield is located on Stirling Island only 1 km away.
John Seach has been providing unique tours to the Solomon Islands since 1989.
