Nupani Island is the most isolated of the reef islands. The island is located about 35 km NW of the main reef islands. There are two islands on the rim of the atoll.

The population of 100 live on the main island which is also called Nimba. Nalongo is a second uninhabited island located on the eastern edge of the atoll. The atoll contains a 6km wide lagoon in the centre.

Some of the residents used to tend gardens of Tinakula Island.
