Russell Islands, Solomon Islands
Central Province

john

The Russell Islands are a group of two main islands and 70 small islets. The islands have excellent diving, and visited by live aboard boats from Honiara. There are impressive caverns, some even inhabited by crocodiles.

Pavuvu is the largest of the Russell Islands. It is 17 km wide and covered with coconut plantations. The island has been settled by a number of Tikopians from Temotu Province.

Mbanika is the second largest island in the group. Yandina is Russell Islands sub provincial headquarters, and is located on the eastern side of the island.

Yandina has one of the best deep water anchorages in the Solomon Islands.
