Ugi island is 8 km north of Makira Island.
Ugi is a raised coral reef about 10.5 km long and 5.7 km wide. The summit elevation is 160 m. It covers an area of 42 sq km.
Most people live next to Selwyn Bay on the western side of the island. The island has a pleasant climate and good beaches. Archaeological evidence has revealed continuous occupation of the island since 1470 AD.
There is a small coral reef surrounding most of the island.
