Vonavona Island, Solomon Islands
Western Province
Vonavona Island is located NW of New Georgia Island. The island covers 70 sq km and is next to Vonavona Lagoon. Off the southern tip is located skull island, which contains the remains of chiefs.
The island covers and area of 180 sq km, and had a population of 4494 at last census in 1999. Vonavona is reached from Munda by canoes.
